Maria Elena Rodriguez, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 14, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Maria immigrated to Miami in 1967, where she built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and compassion. She spent more than 30 years as a teacher, touching the lives of countless students with patience and kindness. Maria was known for her incredible cooking, her love of gardening, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome at her table.

She is survived by her children, Daniel Rodriguez and Sofia Martinez; her grandchildren, Lucas, Elena, and Mateo; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will deeply miss her warmth and wisdom.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Serenity Memorial Chapel in Miami, Florida. Funeral Mass will take place Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Brendan Catholic Church.

Maria’s family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a local children’s literacy charity in her honor.
